Happy New Year!! Happiness, health, and travel…
For us, the arrival of the new year means the end of our time here in Cape Town. We have made the most of the last few days of relative stability here to buy some more flights and to plan the next steps of our voyage. But first of all, here are the final photos from Cape Town.
After 3 weeks of the same theme, mountains-school-beach, we were lucky enough to have some visitors from home for our final week here. It has been quite a hectic week, in terms of visiting and exploring! On the list was: V & A Waterfront, the aquarium, Cape Point, Table Mountain cable car, Atlantic coast from Chapman’s Peak to Mouille Point, Winelands and the Eagle Encounters wildlife refuge at the Spier Wine Estate. On top of all this, we spent some time on the beach at Muizenburg, hiked the trails above Kalk Bay, and the kids went to visit their little feathered buddies at Boulders Beach one last time.
And that concludes our visit to Cape Town. Here’s what we liked most:
Greg: Cape Point and the Spier Vineyard with birds of prey.
Nina: Penguins and my birthday. And having our friends here.
Gary (and Sophie): Living the good life in Kalk Bay, between ocean and mountain.
For me, when we arrived here, I could not imagine ever wanting to leave this lovely place. But since Christmas the hordes of holidaymakers have descended (along with noise and traffic) and made me wish for a more solitary place. Just as well, since we begin our road trip up into the Namibian desert tomorrow…
