The Good Life on the French Riviera

Our stay on the Cote d’Azur is almost at an end, the end of the beginning of our trip! We only managed to get a glimpse of this magnificent part of the world, but nonetheless it was a great way to start our journey! Luckily, the weather was kind to us, and despite being at the start of the low season, it still felt like summertime outdoors.

We made the most of the new recreational areas of Nice, especially the Promenade du Paillon, lovely gardens with play areas and relaxation areas packed with a mix of locals and tourists on each of our visits.

The medieval village of St-Paul-de-Vence deserves it’s status as a top tourist destination, magnificent old stone walls surrounded by works of art, and the view from the ramparts is just as remarkable.

The children have begun to get their legs in shape: it’s easy to get lost in the old parts of Nice, Cannes, Monaco… Today we managed to clock up 7 km of walking in Monaco, the second smallest country in the world, only 2 km squared in size!

It has to be said that the Riviera exudes a scent of luxury, celebrity, and wealth… not really a world in which we belong as a family of global vagabonds!

Here are the highlights of the region according to Greg & Nina:

What the liked the best: the beach and the medieval town of St-Paul-de-Vence.

What they found the most difficult: lots of walking!

What they found different from home: the funny accents.

The best thing they tasted: pain au chocolat, encore et encore…
