In under one week’s time we will have arrived at our first destination on our world tour: Nice. The excitement is now very palpable! Our last full weekend at home was pretty hectic: last visits to friends & family, more reservations for flights and hotels, as well as a quick visit to the hairdresser for Nina and I to make our hair a bit more manageable during the trip…
We also took our cat Oscar to his holiday camp for the duration of our trip – this being my Dad’s place. He didn’t seem too bothered by the change, but the kids are anxious to pay him a last visit on Wednesday after school to be sure he is OK!
Last but not least, we packed our luggage. Much to our dismay, we discovered that the kids had already grown out of their jeans and most of their tops that we were going to pack for them, so we had to make a flying visit to the mall for some last-minute clothes shopping. The kids have a single carry-on case each, Gary has a bigger bag, and I had high hopes of packing all my stuff into a carry-on case too. I did manage to get it all in, however at 12 kg, it exceeds most weight limits for carry-on luggage. Since I would have to check the bag in most cases anyway, Gary suggested I just bring a bigger bag too. This way we will be able to distribute the weight more evenly between us for things like the medical kit and the school manuals etc. with the added bonus of leaving a tiny bit of room to bring back some small souvenirs of the trip! ?
