Updated itinerary – 13 Jan. 2016

So, only a few days into January, and we have already made several major changes to our itinerary! Firstly, we will be cutting short our stay in Cape Town for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it is peak season, and accommodation is rather expensive, and secondly, we have already been there and so we pretty much know what we are getting into – no surprises. We will be staying for the month of December, and then heading to Windhoek, Namibia by plane around the first of Jan. 2017. This obviously means that all our other stops will be brought forward, unless we decide to stay somewhere for longer than planned to balance it out again, which is very possible!

Second change – we are now going to visit northern Thailand in-between India and China. I have been there twice and don’t need much convincing to return, and Sophie has never been and would very much like to go, so that’s a no-brainer. It’s also a lot cheaper than Cape Town in the peak season too 😉

Third change – We are going to do an overland segment from Salta, Argentina to La Paz, Bolivia. This will allow us to experience the Andes is all their splendour, as well as the Amazon jungle! Who can resist?

Fourth and final change – We will going from La Paz, Bolivia to Lima, Peru via Cuzco (and Maccu Piccu of course!). Our original plan was to go from Salta to Buenos Aires and fly home from there, but we decided to maximize our stay in South America instead, and come back to visit Patagonia another time.
